    May 17th, 2008Puryear Days May 2008
The HCHS set up an adoption day and small yard sale for Puryear Days. We also brought out some animals from the Exotic Animal Rescue of Henry Co. and what fun we had. The quilt was handmade and gorgeous. This will be available again at the county fair this year as a raffle for the week long event.
    January 7th, 2008Neglected Pit Bulls - Dec. 2007
These are dogs we're still working with. The D.A. has ordered all but 4 dogs to be removed. We need places for 3 more dogs to go. These were miserable conditions and I fear the 4 dogs allowed to stay will not be cared for well either. Constant monitoring is a must here.

These were breeders - and the kid who owns them will not stop doing that if he can get away with more.
    October 28th, 2006UTM Spirit Week
This was fun. Even though we didn't adopt anyone out, the fraternity who invited us won third place for their display...the HCHS being a part of that. We got a lot of exposure and made some new friends and much needed donations. The guys donated their profits. What a great way to spend a beautiful fall day.
    September 4th, 2006George and Marlboro
George (Boxer) & Marlboro (pit bull) were found in a kennel with no doors. Old food was present on the ground, maggots in the food in the dish. George was laying down to die, Marlboro stood over him to protect him. It's been nearly a month since they have been rescued. These pictures have gone to the D.A. The owners want them back. George had gained 21 lbs in two weeks...34 lbs to 55 lbs. George had gone from 24 lbs to 34 lbs. in one week. Both had hookworm, dehydration, emaciation, George had an additionl respiritory infection and eye infection. You wouldn't know it now they had all those problems!
    January 8th, 2006Adoption for Guido!
Guido has found a good home. Out of all of the igs that came from the 4 rescued, he was the one I was afraid would never go anywhere since he is so aggressive. With the help from a friend, he went several hundred miles east to his new home. And I gotta say...I have never seen a dog house on a shelf before!

    Doberman saved
This dobie was on his last leg when someone finally called us to help this boy. The HCHS officer who took the call was told he had laid down and would not get up. The pictures show the day he was taken, and then 6 days later. It's amazing what a little food can do.

As of 12/13 his case is getting ready to go to court.
    October 20th, 2005Court ordered confiscation
The investigation resulted in the court ordered confiscation of all animals on the property. We confiscated 8 horses, 13 goats, 19 dogs, 4 cats, several ducks and chickens, and some guinea hens.

Update 2/9/06: The court date has now been set for April 6th, 2006. One of the cocker spaniels died shortly after rescuing. The horses had severe thrush (hoof rot). One mare was suggested for euthanization since the infection went all the way into her shin bones. The horse rescuer is trying to save her anyway. The rest of the animals are now in great shape.

    October 18th, 20054 Surrendered Iguanas
These gals and one guy need homes. They're outside and the man that has them has no time and no appropriate place for them this winter. Guido is the lovely orange male. Big Momma is in the branch up high. Tic and Tac are the younger ones. Big Momma is the only one that doesn't seem to need a lot of socializing...but she does have a lot of retained shed on her spikes...a lot. Her toes and tail seem fine.

Guido, Tic and Tac are all pretty wild...especially the younger ones. They will need a net to catch if that gives you any idea. These greenies need experienced handlers/rehabbers/rescuers.

Ummm...I have the one I had no intention of bringing home. Guido is a full blown male...I have a male...breeding season is starting. The testosterone will fly if they are ever to meet. Guido is in the spare room at the other end of the house...but they can smell each other. I can hold him, but it's a battle to get him. Once cought he settles down with just gaping. I think eventually he will settle down.
    October 18th, 2005Investigation Pictures - 10/16/05
With the help of these pictures and others not yet recieved, the result is the upcoming siezure of 8 horses, 13 goats, unknown number of ducks and chickens, 4 cats and approximately 20 dogs in various states of needing vet care...all breeder stock.
